Starting with Eugenio Montale’s striking definition of the novel as a “miracle” and moving through its echoes in popular culture, including the Rolling Stones’ Sympathy for the Devil, the performance explores the themes and paradoxes of Bulgakov’s celebrated work: good and evil, justice, the power of art, and the mystery of existence.
